It describes the differences between tailings embankments and classical water retention dams from a geotechnical standpoint and outlines the application related fields to tailings dam design. Planning, Design and Analysis of Tailings Dams was written for geotechnical engineers, mining and metallurgical engineers, and regulatory personnel who have a fundamental knowledge of the principals of soil mechanics and water dam design. Steven G. Vick is a geotechnical engineer specializing in tailings disposal. Throughout his consulting career, Mr. Vick has explored the interface between theory and empiricism in tailings disposal. His research and technical publications formed the general outline for this book. After over 50 disposal projects, Mr. Vick is still intrigued by the complexity of the field. This book is a MUST in the engineering library.

Kamal I.M. Al-Malah, Ph.D., is head of the department of chemical engineering at the University of Ha’il in Saudi Arabia. He holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in chemical/biochemical engineering. Dr. Al-Malah graduated from Oregon State University in 1993, and his area of specialty during his M.S. and Ph.D. programs dealt with protein interactions and behavior at interfaces in biological systems. He currently researches in the realm of chemical and biochemical engineering and food engineering. Additionally, Dr. Al-Malah is a software developer and has created Windows-based software for engineering applications and modeling of physical/biophysical systems.

This is the cookbook I've been looking for forever--traditional South Indian food, but with exact measurements and detailed instructions. For example: "In a heavy-bottomed pan, combine jaggery and 1/2 cup of water and cook for about 3 minutes, on low heat, till it becomes slightly sticky." All the dishes I've cooked so far have been delicious!

About the Author

Nice book for the anime and manga fans of the series

[[VIDEOID:mo2ZHW6670C6R7J]]Der Mond: The Art of Neon Genesis Evangelion is just one of the many books on the popular anime. Many of them are in Japanese. This is one that's translated to English by publisher Viz Media. It's a larger than usual art book, hardcover, 120 pages and reads from right to left.

It collects the art of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto ('' ''), the Japanese artist who created the characters for Evangelion. The pages are filled with huge beautiful prints. If you collect the manga series, you'll find some pieces familiar because they are the chapter splash pages. Most of the art are character based, and there are also some sketches which I like.

It's not all Evangelion art though. Towards the back there are also illustrations from other projects like games and other anime. The only I recognise is Fatal Fury fighting game. The others are The Wings of Honneamise, Leiqunni Nondelaiko, Nadia of the Mysterious Seas, Aoki Uru and others. There's even an album cover for Eric Clapton.

There isn't any commentary beside the credits for the illustrations.

Nice book for the anime and manga fans of the series.

Gorgeous, super-sized art book with bonus material!

Original-series artwork with conceptual art and other works thrown in! This book was somewhere in-between an illustration-only volume like the Art of Satoshi Kon (Dark Horse Entert.) and a Ghibli Art Book, which is a nice mix. Very high quality print, as expected. Some background is given to each image, and the bonus concept art is nicely packaged last in the book so the reader/viewer can appreciate the art style development and artistic context. Also, this art book is HUGE! I had to move my shelf down a good few centimeters to fit it in with my 30~some other art books - some of which I thought were large to begin with. Be sure to check the size specs before you buy - although I certainly think it's worth owning regardless of storage inconvenience.

The Most Beautiful

Absolutely breath taking. A must have for any true Neon Genesis Evangelion fan or of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. It takes you to the eyes of the artist himself. In the back of the book it has written detail of mostly of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto himself. His words help on what was going on in his head during his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion and other projects he did. It also tells you things that you might not have known during the production of the anime like early designs, early character name concepts, and early thoughts of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto and Hideaki Anno. This is truly for the fans!!!

About the Author
Angela Carter (1940 -1992) wrote nine novels and numerous short stories, as well as nonfiction, radio plays, and the screenplay for Neil Jordan's 1984 movie The Company of Wolves, based on her story. Tales as rich as blood red roses

"The Bloody Chamber" is a work of literature which transcends genre and unearths the thinly veiled erotic elements of the fairy tale form. Each of the ten stories in this collection are as rich and sensuous as red velvet, it is quite possible to open the book at any page and find yourself immersed in the beauty of the prose. Highlights include the eponymous novella "The Bloody Chamber" (Carter's subversive re-telling of the "Bluebeard" story) and "The Lady of the House of Love", which illuminates the notion of a decaying European aristocracy behind the myth of the vampire.
Carter presents us with two contrasting (yet not conflicting) versions of the "Beauty and the Beast" story with "The Courtship of Mr Lyon" and "The Tiger's Bride". In the former, the fierce nature of the beast is curbed by the gentleness of the female protagonist, whilst in the latter, the heroine discovers the liberating power of the repressed animal aspect of her sexuality. Each story has a feminist flavour, exploring both male and female sexual desire, and the darker domains of eroticism. A book which will increasingly be hailed as a masterpiece in years to come.
