From the Classical Musician's Perspective...

I found this book to be very well done and a good resouce for the higher level beginner/intermediate player. Many people have written to note Rainey's odd playing style, and I would agree with them - it is probably actually best for the student to skip this section.
It is important to understand that Rainey wrote this method book much like the Arban's book for trumpet players - more exercises than you can fathom and very few bells and whisltes.
If you can take the dry, repetetive (and sometimes downright boring) studies, then there is no question you will be a better bassist.

Love it. Lee G. breaks everything down simply and gives clear concise examples. There is no anatomy in this book, but I did not buy it for anatomy. I bought it for form and help in getting started step by step. Anatomy comes later when you start to flesh in. I would HIGHLY recommend this book

Chronic Inflammation

A great resource for anyone with unexplained symptoms. I've had vague physiological symptoms since my early teens which no conventional doctor could explain and no alternative doctor could treat. Two days after moving into an old house, my health completely bottomed out and I quickly became disabled from school and work. I developed skin rashes, difficulty staying upright, and lost the ability to put two coherent sentences together. By the grace of God, I moved out with my computer and some clothes and within a few days, recovered enough of my health to be able to finish college and work full time.

I found out years later that the old house I got sick in had basement drywall covered with black mold, only visible once the exterior drywall had been removed. In the year that I lived there, there was no smell of mold I could detect nor was there any visible evidence of moisture damage or mold.

Unfortunately, in normal life you'd be very lucky not to encounter toxic mold frequently, either at work, your home, or different buildings. So even though I no longer am living in a place with an overwhelming amount of toxic mold, I still encounter enough to keep the inflammation going. This book goes into detail about how to avoid as much of these toxic particles as possible to give your body a chance to recover from the inflammation.

The fact of the matter is, Lisa Petrison and Erik Johnson's mold avoidance methods get results. Sometimes astonishing results. I'm very grateful to have discovered this book and to be experiencing a turnaround in my health, as a result, that my conventional medicine doctors felt was impossible.

Great Tool to Aid Your Healing from Toxic Mold Exposure

I suffered my entire life from illnesses related to toxic mold exposures. Doctors misdiagnosed me numerous times and it was not until I was bedridden and having organ failure did I finally find a doctor who was able to help me. About the Author
Keith R.A. DeCandido was born and raised in New York City to a family of librarians. He has written over two dozen novels, as well as short stories, nonfiction, eBooks, and comic books, most of them in various media universes, among them Star Trek, World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Marvel Comics, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Serenity, Resident Evil, Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, Farscape, Xena, and Doctor Who. His original novel Dragon Precinct was published in 2004, and he's also edited several anthologies, among them the award-nominated Imaginings and two Star Trek anthologies. Keith is also a musician, having played percussion for the bands the Don't Quit Your Day Job Players, the Boogie Knights, and the Randy Bandits, as well as several solo acts. In what he laughingly calls his spare time, Keith follows the New York Yankees and practices kenshikai karate. He still lives in New York City with his girlfriend and two insane cats.

World of Warcraft: Cycle of Hatred

World of Warcraft: Cycle of Hatred, by Keith R. A. DeCandido

Set a year prior to the opening of the World of Warcraft MMO, "Cycle of Hatred" would perhaps better be titled "Cycle of Blah." Unlike most novels set in the Warcraft universe, this one doesn't really add anything at all to the world.

The plot is mediocre and has no twists or turns - it's straightforwardly flat. You easily guess what's going to happen. Jaina Proudmoore and Thrall aren't true to their established characterization; it feels like the author didn't do any research before writing this book. There are three strong female characters in the book; DeCandido constantly harps on how a woman has to work harder than a man to be in power. It's very overdone, and I was rolling my eyes the second time it came up, let alone the third, the fourth, etc. The characters and plot feel very flat, very one dimensional.

For me, this is the worst of the World of Warcraft novels. I've read all multiple times, and this is my least favorite and the least enjoyable. It's blah - not good, not bad - just blah. If you're a WoW player, or curious about the universe, and want to read some of the books, I recommend you pick something other than this one.
